First Transcontinental U.S. TV Broadcast
September 4, 1951 - U.S. President Harry S. Truman's address at the signing of the Japanese Peace Treaty is broadcast across the nation. It was the first time a television program was broadcast from coast to coast.
In the month of September, Fire Department personnel will be conducting various processes to meet annual compliance requirements for the city’s fire hydrants. These will largely take place in the late evening and on weekends in an attempt to disrupt our citizens as little as possible. While the hydrants are being pressure tested and purged, you may see any of the following: large volumes of water in the gutters, temporary drops in water pressure, and/or slight discoloration of tap water. None of these are a reason to be concerned, but if these inconveniences last more than a day, please contact City Hall at 620-855-2215.
