Materials for loan & use
The Cimarron City
Library allows anyone living within the Gray County area to use the
library without charge. Charges made by other libraries for films,
interlibrary loan, etc. will be passed on to the user. Residents or
property owners in the Gray county area are entitled to a library
card by completing a written application form. Any cardholder may
check out circulating materials.
Limits
on Borrowing
There is no limit
on the number of fiction or nonfiction items that may be borrowed
by an individual except:
New
fiction - 3
Juvenile holiday books - 2
Videocassette tapes - 3
Patrons cannot borrow the latest periodical.
Reference books, rare or historically valuable books will not circulate.
Length
of Loan Periods
Materials
are loaned for the following lengths of times:
Adults
- 2 weeks
Children - 2 weeks
New books with a waiting list - 2 weeks
Videotapes - 3 days
Audiocassettes - 2 weeks
Records, tapes, other AV materials - 1 week
Magazines - 1 week
Newspapers - 1 week
Interlibrary loan title - depends upon the lending library (usually
2 - 4 wks)
Renewals
Renewals
may be made in person or over the telephone. All materials may be
renewed up to 2 times after the initial checkout with the exception
of the following, which cannot be renewed after the initial checkout:
New
books with a reserve list.
Reserved
Materials
The
library patron may reserve materials currently in circulation but
unavailable at the time of the request. The patron will be notified
when the material becomes available. Books and other materials must
be picked up within two days of notification. Videos must be picked
up within 24 hours after notification.
Return
of Materials
The
patron has the responsibility of returning the materials on or before
the date due. If items are overdue after two months from the last
check out or renewal, the patron may not check out further material
until the missing materials are returned or replacement costs are
paid.
Fines
The
fines for overdue materials are as follows:
Books
- $.04
Paperbacks - $.04
Magazines - $.02
Pamphlets - $.02
Videotapes - $.25
Puzzles - $.02
Audiocassettes - $.04
Car Manuals - $.25
Newspapers - $.02
No
overdue fines will be charged to non-profit organizations such as
Headstart or to local outreach program centers such as the senior
citizen center.
Lost
or Damaged Materials
Patrons
are responsible for all materials checked out, and are liable for
the damages, which may occur to library materials. The library staff
will notify the patron of payment due for the replacement of the
damaged or lost items.
